[Kyoto/Pontocho] Meet cute fish for free! Alley Aquarium – a hidden date spot

I’m Risu, a blogger who likes to enjoy Kyoto without spending a lot of money!

This time, I went to Alley Aquarium, which is rumored to be quietly nestled in the back alleys of Pontocho in Kyoto!

It was a wonderful space with a hidden gem feel!

The surrounding area had a very Kyoto feel to it, so it was a great spot.

Recommended points
  • It’s tucked away in a secluded spot, so it’s fun!
  • The emotional atmosphere makes it perfect for a date!
  • You can see the fish for free!

What is Alley Aquarium?

Pontocho Street is just a short walk from Kyoto Kawaramachi Station.
About 200m on foot from the entrance is a small, tucked away aquarium!

Although it’s called an aquarium, it’s actually a space where the owner of the shop next door displays the fish he keeps.

Although it’s not a large scale, you can enjoy small fish such as goldfish and killifish for free, and it’s a spot with a wonderful atmosphere!

A stylish little space tucked away in an alley!
